Rediscovering hand drawn illustration

For years I have felt more comfortable drawing in Adobe Illustrator rather than with a pen and paper. Recently I have dusted off my fine liners and experimented embracing a naive, cheerful style.

Preparing for an exhibition on Brighton seafront from 15th – 27th of July I’m doing at the Fishing Quarter Gallery, I have taken the seaside for inspiration on a series of illustrated prints.

I will never be an illustrator but have enjoyed being comfortable with a sketch book again.

Artists Open Houses May 2015

May Artists Open Houses 2015 22

I’ve been working on 11RugbyRoad.com for the past month or so turning it into a functioning site to sell mine and Adams design and art! In May during the Fringe Festival we are taking part in another Artists Open House even in Brighton, where we get to sell directly from our flat to anyone who comes by over the weekends. It’s a really nice event where you get to chat to all sorts of people and see behind closed doors of residential streets.

Visit our Facebook or Twitter to be kept up to date and come by in May to say hello!

11 Rugby Road Open House

Brighton Open House 2014I’ve been working hard on getting our Open House in Brighton to open its doors to the public. Myself and Adam have produced a whole range of gifts and treats which can only be found here. I have built a website so people can get a good idea of what’s on offer, which can be found at 11RugbyRoad.com

If you are unfamiliar with the Open House concept, their website describes it well as..

Christmas Artists Open Houses create a special atmosphere, where you can chat to the artists and have a sneaky peak around some of Brighton’s most interesting homes, whilst viewing an amazing selection of individual, unique arts and crafts. What better way to do your Christmas shopping than by sipping mulled wine, eating mince pies before blazing hearths, whilst selecting gifts for family, friends and the odd treat for your self!

Visiting the Christmas Artists Open Houses is a great way to discover the diversity of creative talent that exists in the city and offers work from some of the country’s top makers in the fields of ceramics, jewellery, print-making and home-wares, as well as handcrafted Christmas cards, wreaths, tree decorations and foodie gifts.

We are open every weekend between 29th November and 14th December 11am-6pm and hope to see you there!
